Principal Characters in Sign of Alchemy
Niv'leana (or Niv) grew up in the small farming community of Brenloh nestled securely in the Jeweled Woods. A mysterious visitor unlocks her suppressed magical gifts. These powers save her brother, Jarris, and prompt her to journey to Selandis to explore her true destiny.
Niv is intimately in tune with nature. She spent many hours reading in her favorite spot in the woods. She dreams of far off places and lands, making maps and writing journals of her imaginings. Her spirit dances between worlds, providing her frequent, clairvoyant experiences.
She knows, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that there is more to life than what we see.
Frasie is Niv'leana's insatiably curious best friend. She is an expert huntress and proclaimed by many to be the best archer in the Jeweled Woods. She's bubbly, bright, and full of energy, winding down only when necessary to rest.
Frasie's demeanor is delightfully naive but her soul is wise beyond her years. Through her graceful art of archery, she is the reluctant, yet fierce warrior.
Shareis is a half-Proctor, a feminine race that seeks balance and uses innate magical power to achieve harmony in their lives. Having grown up during the Proctor Wars, she's an accomplished fighter and skilled tactician. Her dedication to truth, both in herself and others, provides a font of tremendous strength.
While Proctors avoid alliances, Shareis's human side is fiercely loyal and protective to those she loves. Her calm, confident demeanor puts others at ease and inspires those around her.
Aiden, son of an inventor, is smart and resourceful young man. Niv'leana and her companions first encounter him on their journey to Selandis.
Aiden has a deeply-ingrained love of learning and is always thinking of a better way to complete the task at hand. Engineering and mechanics are his specialty.
Farius is a Druid, an enigmatic race of shape-shifting beings that primarily live in the Grove, a hidden location in the southern part of the continent. Druids learn to transform into an animal of their choosing, and for Farius, this is the owl.
Farius has a serious demeanor and chooses his few words carefully. His stubbornness can be a double-edged sword, but his dedication to friends and family is unshakable.
At times, with Frasie's help, he's even been known to tell a joke or two.
Maeva (or Mae) is a powerful sorceress and sister of the High Priestess, leader of the Ael'Shanar, a feminine mystery order based in Selandis.
Maeva is thoughtful and considerate, paying particular care and attention to her students in the order. She is married to Farius, and the two often are involved in political affairs between the Ael'Shanar and the Druids.
Olivia is a Skilla, a race who are naturally gifted with charm, charisma, and quick wit. Olivia, like many Skilla, posses skill in glamor and protective magic. She lives in Lahara and is good friends with Narelle.
Olivia is confident and flirtatious, yet is quite tender and vulnerable--a trait she hides through clever humor and misdirection.
Vorea is the daughter of the High Priestess of the Ael'Shanar.
Her cold, methodical persona is perplexing and off-putting to many, yet she commands the respect of her acolytes through an exceptional grasp of the arcane. She is skilled in multiple disciplines of magic, including necromancy.
Lilly is a Proctor and regular soldier in the Proctor Wars. She fought against a corrupt and compromised civilian government in Selandis to gain freedom and peace for her kind.
Like most full-blooded Proctors, she tries to maintain a meticulously balanced life. The art of combat consumes her for most of her formative years, though she finds repose in preparing a delectable meal.
Mauria is a widow farmer near Masola. She has two children--Adrious and Manis.
She has a soulful smile, a good sense of humor, a strong work ethic, and undying dedication to her children.
Narelle is a Skilla and wife to Cadrin, Mayor of Lahara.
She enjoys playing the socialite, a role Cadrin is all to happy to furnish. She has expensive tastes and a wandering eye.
Cabrina is an initiate to the order of the Ael'Shanar. Vorea takes a keen interest in her talents and takes Cabrina under her wing.
Dailen, leader of the Den'tari, a mystery order offshoot of the Ael'Shanar, is a wise elder and accomplished illusionist.
Cadrin is the Mayor of Lahara and is married to Narelle. He plays a vital role in The Battle of Lahara.
